Contact Lens Services
In addition to a comprehensive eye exam you may request a contact lens fitting and evaluation. Many patients choose contact lenses for their primary vision correction and glasses for an alternative or part-time wear. Other patients prefer to wear glasses for the majority of their day, but have activities and events where they’d rather not wear their glasses and choose contact lenses for these times. We are happy to discuss the options available for you.
While inserting a contact lens in your eye is not difficult, it can be challenging at first. We provide training to help you become comfortable with this process.
Finally, we allow you to wear the contact lenses prescribed by our doctors for a short trial period to see if contact lenses are the best solution to your visual needs.
We have a variety of lens types to address numerous vision needs – ranging from nearsightedness all the way to keratoconus. Your eye health is our greatest concern and safe wear and care for lenses will be covered in depth as well.
Contact lens fitting
A contact lens fitting and evaluation is required annually to maintain healthy contact lens wear and updated prescription. It allows the doctor to assess your visual needs and expectations or any contradictions to lens wear. It is essential in the determination of appropriate lens power and design as well as external eye health in regard to cornea, tear film, and lid hygiene.
Specialty contact lens fitting
Contact lenses are medical devices and different eyes need different types of contact lenses. Although most patients can wear soft contact lenses to correct refractive conditions (such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia), there are many patients who require custom or specialized contact lenses due to irregular corneas. These contact lenses are more challenging and require expertise to fit.
